The passing of the Theory Test is a legal requirement prior to booking a practical driving test. |
|
|
|
It is generally taken during the course of lessons with a qualified instructor. |
|
|
|
There are many aids available to help you learn the content of the test. These should be discussed with your Instructor within the first few practical lessons. They include “The Official Theory Driving Test for Car Drivers and Motorcyclists”, also available on CD ROM (possibly the best means of learning. Both available from all good book shops. |

|
|
There are also other (cheaper) alternative books available, produced by organizations such as BSM or the AA |

The Test consists of 35 multiple choice questions. |
|
These are produced on a touch screen computer. |
|
In order to pass you must get a minimum of 30 questions correct. |
|
You are allowed 40 minutes for the test, although most people finish within 15 to 20 minutes. |
|
You will be informed of your result before you leave the test centre. |
